The Third Concerto has the kind of grace and economy that one might almost call Classical; it has become one of the twentieth century’s most popular concertos.

Left unfinished at the time of the composer’s death in 1896, Bruckner's Ninth Symphony is an immense work that continuously unfolds with its stirring climaxes, daring chromaticism and harmonic richness. Muti brings remarkable lyricism to this dramatic work in a performance embodying the exceptional synergy between him and the CSO.

Jonathan Dove's new work, In Damascus, reflects aspects of the conflict in Syria; as an expression of empathy, sorrow, even outrage at those terrible events, with text taken from prose-poems by Ali Safar, translated by Anne-Marie McManus. It is presented alongside Dove's string quartet, Out of Time, and his Piano Quintet.
