Since its inception, the label has chalked up an enviable catalogue of releases, including benchmark recordings of music by Beethoven, Berlioz, Sibelius, Elgar, Janáček, Vaughan Williams, Bruckner, and many others, boasting such names as Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Simon Rattle, Mark Elder, and Antonio Pappano amongst its esteemed roster of conductors.
To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the label this year, I was delighted to visit LSO St Luke's to talk to Becky Lees, Head of LSO Live, alongside two veteran members of the orchestra (first violinist Maxine Kwok and principal percussionist Neil Percy), about the early days of the label, how the recording process works, and their memories of favourite recordings on the label over the years.
