The Brabant Ensemble

The Brabant Ensemble was founded by conductor and musicologist Stephen Rice in 1998 and specialises in Renaissance polyphony from the Low Countries (though they have also made acclaimed recordings of music by Palestrina and Lassus). Their discography includes Thomas Crecquillon’s Missa mort m’a privé (shortlisted for a Gramophone Award in 2007), Pierre de la Rue’s Missa Nuncqua fue pena mayor and Missa Inviolata, Cipriano de Rore’s Missa Doulce mémoire and Missa a note negre, and albums of music by Clemens non Papa, Pierre de Manchichourt and Dominique Phinot.
