French organist Olivier Latry was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1962; following initial studies in his home town, he trained with Gaston Litaize at the Academy of St Maur-des-Fossés. After spending four years as titular organist of Meaux Cathedral in the early 1980s, Latry was named as one of the three titular organists of Notre-Dame (aged just 23), and was appointed professor of organ at the Conservatoire de Paris in 1995.

Latry has performed and recorded a wide variety of repertoire from the seventeenth century to the present day, and has premiered works by French composers including Thierry Escaich, Vincent Paulet and Xavier Darasse. His discography includes numerous recordings on the Cavaillé-Coll organ of Notre-Dame (notably the complete organ works of Messiaen, Midnight at Notre-Dame, the César Franck recital In Spiritum and Trois Siècles d’Orgue à Notre-Dame de Paris, all on Deutsche Grammophon), Voyages (a recital of transcriptions on the new organ of the Paris Philharmonie, released on Erato in 2017), and the Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony with Christoph Eschenbach and the Philadelphia Orchestra and with Kent Nagano and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
