Katherine Broderick

Katherine Broderick was born in Oldham and trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio; recognised as a potential Wagnerian from a young age, her early successes included the Kathleen Ferrier Award and Guildhall Gold Medal in 2007 and numerous high-profile engagements in the smaller roles of the Ring Cycle whilst still in her twenties. In 2013 she represented England at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, where her repertoire included scenes from Wagner’s Die Meistersinger and Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

Broderick’s discography includes Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony with Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé (‘Broderick sings with heaps of passion and drama’ – [i[]Gramophone), Helmwige Die Walküre for both Elder and Jaap van Zweden, Miss Jessel The Turn of the Screw on LSO Live under Sir Colin Davis, and recital of Mussorgsky songs with pianist Sergey Rybin which won praise from BBC Music Magazine for her ‘bright tone and clear diction’.
