The US vocal ensemble Blue Heron was founded in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1999 (as Blue Heron Renaissance Choir) and specialises in polyphony of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Their debut concert featured music from the Peterhouse Partbooks, which would play a key role in their later discography – the first volume in a five-disc series of this repertoire (much of it world premieres) was released on the group’s own eponymous label in 2010, and the final instalment won a Gramophone Award in 2018. Their discography also includes Christmas in Medieval England and Dufay motets.
