Continuing her Alkan series, McCallum tackles the monumental Symphony from Alkan's Opus 39. Only pianists with considerable strength (physical, digital and emotional) dare to approach this huge piece, with its daunting technical demands requiring equal musicianship to bring it off successfully. It is coupled with the slightly mad 'Chanson' by Alkan, and the world premiere recording of the 'Promenades', by Alkan's countryman, Magnard.
