Orange Mountain is pleased to announce the release of a new 2-CD set, 50 Years of the Philip Glass Ensemble. This set contains previously released original recordings of Philip Glass’s music from the late-1960s and early-1970s, including Music with Changing Parts, Two Pages, Music in Contrary Motion, Music in Fifths, and Music in Similar Motion. These recordings were made by Philip Glass and released on the long lost label Chatham Square, then released by Nonesuch Records in the 1990s, which are also CDs now long out of print. This release was timed to coincide with the launch of the Philip Glass Institute as part of The New School in New York in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Philip Glass Ensemble – a group now in residence at the New School and looking towards a future of decades of touring as the original human resource for Philip Glass’ early music.
