[Lully] Conductor Vàclav Luks maintains a tight control, delivering a spectacular performance from fanfare opening to the magnificent contrapuntal conclusion with its jaunty dance rhythm and soaring brass and solo segments. [Biber] The performance is excellent, and the microphone placement captures the grandeur of both works. The cinematography, is a bit static, but when the individuals are portrayed, it is clear that they are enjoying performing. Luks keeps the tempos respectful but entirely in keeping with the resonant ambience of the music and venue.

The choir and orchestra perform [the Te Deum] with vigour…Václav Luks, the conductor, has no problems of ensemble with Biber’s Missa Salisburgensis, which must have been even more of a challenge…The problem is that on film there’s no sense of the sound coming at you from all directions.
