This release from Serbian pianist Mira Jevtich features a programme of compositions for solo piano by her brother Ivan Jevtic, compositions that reflect memories of their childhoods together and the separate paths their illustrious careers later took them - Mira as the international concert pianist and Ivan as the composer and academic.
'Visions Éternelles' is a work that consists of a series of eight settings that exude both lyricism and anxiety; landscapes drawn in rainbow colours and crisscrossed by accents of a turbulent temperament. The piece is dedicated to pianist Juliette Hass. Piano Sonata: 'Con rigore, Andante tranquillo' - Ben Marcato' were composed in in Belgrade and Paris between 1981 and 1983 and dedicated to his sister Mira. The pieces hints of composer Olivier Messiaen, who Ivan Jevtic studied under in Paris. Atmospheres was composed in Paris during 1984 and takes its inspiration from the city's rooftop landscape, changing seasons and weather patterns. It later became the inspiration for composing his Second Piano Concerto.
'Summer Piano Pieces '89' was composed in Belgrade and recorded that same year in Moscow in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Inspired by the Adriatic island of Hvar where his sister Mira was performing at a festival as featured soloist, the piece conjures up imagery of the beautiful music performed, the Island's stunning scenery, and a particularly beautiful women in the audience!
