De Bezetting Speelt has been a solid part of Rotterdam's cultural life for the last eighteen years. "We share a common passion for performing chamber music and in that time we have grown from a group of musicians that assembled for specific occasions to a fully professional ensemble.
"De Bezetting Speelt" (the ensemble plays) may seem to be an unusual name for an ensemble at first glance. Our name comes from the way we work: we are an ensemble of five strings and five winds, and for each programme we put together pieces that use various combinations of the different instruments in our ensemble. The combination of strings and winds makes our sound unique and allows for much variety in a group that can range between two and ten musicians."
