Stromsänger is a remarkable and fascinating project from sound artist Christina Kubisch with the Norwegian vocal ensemble Trondheim Voices. Taking the concept of sounds that travel, Kubisch wore custom-made induction headphones on a tram journey around Trondheim city and was captivated by the sonics of the tram's electromagnetic fields. The ensemble created pure vocal recordings in response to the electromagnetic sounds which were later mixed in Berlin and played through loudspeakers in a church mixed with the electromagnetic recordings. The results were re-recorded multiple times and became the foundation of the work.
