Robyn Hitchcock's career has endured since the formation of The Soft Boys in the mid '70s, and through this time he has refined his eccentric but quintessentially English writing & singing style to become one of the most individual voices the UK has produced. This album is a true return to form following his outings for WEA during the 1990s, and was recorded in the distinguished company of US country legends GILLIAN WELCH and DAVID RAWLINGS, who appear on all of the tracks of this album. A mysterious, whimsical and yet touchingly emotional atmosphere pervades all of the cuts that make up "Spooked", and while the album has the hallmarks you would expect from a session that features two of the finest contemporary US musicians, it is more than anything else a classic English pop record. Robyn is touring the UK with Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Bill Reiflin in January.
