For the first time since their original releases, Nick Mason’s solo albums, ‘Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports’, ‘Profiles’ and ‘White of the Eye’ will be available again as individual LPs and CDs. This is the first time the albums have been made available since their release in the 2018 boxset ‘Unattended Luggage’.
Nick’s second solo venture, “Profiles,” initially released in 1985 under the name ‘Mason + Fenn,’ marked his first collaboration with 10cc guitarist Rick Fenn. This album predominantly features instrumental tracks, with the exception of a few vocal performances. “Lie for a Lie” includes vocals from Maggie Reilly and Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour, while “Israel” features vocals by UFO keyboardist Danny Peyronel. “Profiles” showcases a blend of instrumental rock that captures the spirit of the mid-80s.
For fans of Nick Mason and Pink Floyd, these reissues offer a fresh opportunity to experience the depth and breadth of Mason’s musical talents outside of the iconic band’s context. These releases also provides new fans with an accessible way to explore lesser-known works of a rock legend. Each album showcases a different facet of Mason’s musical interests, from jazz-infused experimental rock to instrumental soundscapes and film scores.
Beyond his work with Pink Floyd, Nick Mason has continued to engage with his musical roots, notably through his band Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets. Formed in May 2018, the group focuses on performing early Pink Floyd material, much of which had never been played live before. This endeavor has been met with critical acclaim and has delighted fans worldwide with performances that highlight the band’s most experimental and formative music.
