We all know that the euphonium was not developed until well into the 19th century, so there is no authentic classical or baroque repertoire. This is especially frustrating when you consider the agility and expressiveness of the instrument in the hands of our best players. We can be sure that the composers of the baroque era would have leapt at the chance of writing for the euphonium, and this volume of pieces attempts to show what might have resulted, had it been around.
