This work is inspired by the work of Martín Chirino that bears the same name. It was written for the 1st Martín Chirino Composition Competition in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain).
With the series “Herramientas”, Chirino takes the leap to the most absolute abstraction, while paying homage to the artisanal work he admires, and with which he learned so much. The influence of his admired Julio González is glimpsed in these simple Works, with an aesthetic in accordance with the ruptures advocated by the postwar avant-gardes. Martin Chirino risked a lot in these works.
