From the Book of Amos was written as a gift to my friend and colleague at King's, College, London, the Rev. Tim Ditchfield, at whose suggestion I set this (previously unfamiliar) text.
Amos was the earliest of the Old Testament prophets, and his ferocious denunciation of wickedness and passionate desire for social justice clearly resonate as much today as they did in 750 BC.
It was first performed by the choir of King's College, London, with James Orford, organ, conducted by Joseph Fort on May 2018 at St Mary-le-Strand, London, and subsequently on June 29th at Bath Abbey.
