Shifting Mirrors is constructed from the idea of mutating reflection points and mirrors. Throughout the work individual lines are reflected back onto themselves, forwards/backwards or distorted by more complex angles to create both melodic and harmonic content. The idea originated as I imagined putting an object in a room made of mirrors that were not all perfectly formed; they were either warped, cracked or simply made of moving water thus producing distorted interpretations of the original object or reflections of the object that rippled.
The piece falls into one continuous arch made up of two main sections, unequal in length, with blurred seams.
