These five Chromantic Preludes were written for pianist Nadia Shpachenko and her advanced piano students at Cal Poly Pomona and Claremont Graduate University in California. The composer describes them as a synthesis of styles from some of his favorite pianist composers: Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Ravel, Debussy and Satie. They are designed as studies in piano technique that can be instructional and fun to perform, as well as being popular for general performance purposes by a professional duo.
