The 4 short movements of this serenade vary in character although none are consciously descriptive. The opening andante serves as an introduction whilst the second and fourth movements are more vibrant and colourful. The third movement adagio sandwiches a harp solo between two duets, the first for alto flute and viola, and the second for violin and cello, and is altogether darker in mood. Originally written in the autumn of 1983 it was revised in 2019.
