Her Body is a fusion of vocal and instrumental performance, physical theatre, art installation and abstract soundscape which explores our relationship to our mind, body and spirit. It candidly asks the question “How do you feel about your body”. Responses from men and women plus the composer’s own vulnerable experiences, are embodied in hauntingly cathartic music interfaced with seascape inspired installations. Her Body is an enlivening, meditative chill-out zone designed as an antidote to the psychic exhaustion of the recent pandemic.

Synopsis:

A woman emerges from a huge pile of discarded material like Erda from the earth in Wagner’s Ring. She explores her body through movement and abstract vocalisation which evokes the calls of the ancient bird goddesses. From the foam of a calm sea she rises to sing a song of love. Out of this arrives energised dance music. The woman becomes mischievous: "I know that my body excites women, body excites men, it’s not my fault that my body is attractive”. She goes on to explore her pre-gathered responses from men and women to the question " How do you feel about your body?". The sound and video-scape then transforms into a meditation in a quiet bay. The woman narrates a visualisation. The final conclusion is in a cosmic forest which pulsates with orchestrally descending bass lines and ecstatic improvised singing.
