In der ehemaligen, sehr umfangreichen Notensammlung des Fürsten Carl Friedrich zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg-Triefenstein (1781-1852) befindet sich ein Notenkonvolut mit fünf Bläserquintetten - Bearbeitungen von Klavierwerken und Streichquartetten von Conradin Kreutzer, Ignaz Pleyel, Ludwig van Beethoven und Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. Das hier erstmals im Druck vorliegende erste Quintett dieser Sammlung ist eine Fassung des Trios op. 43 für Klarinette, Fagott und Klavier von Conradin Kreutzer. Carl Friedrich spielte alle Orchesterinstrumente und wurde, nicht nur bei dieser Bearbeitung, unterstützt von seinem Lehrer und Freund Friedrich Witt (1770-1836), der viel mit ihm musizierte und ihn in Komposition unterrichtet hat. Witt war der letzte Hofkapellmeister in Würzburg und, wie wir aus Briefen wissen, häufig Gast auf Schloss Triefenstein, wo Carl Friedrich zu Löwenstein ein Orchester aus musikalisch begabten Bediensteten unterhielt. Jeden Mittwoch gab es dort ein Konzert, zu dem die Bevölkerung der umliegenden Orte bei freiem Eintritt eingeladen war.
