The Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko was born in Kiev in 1986 and came to international prominence after taking the Gold Medal at the Fourteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2013 (a live recording of his competition performances was released on Harmonia Mundi later that year). He trained at the Moscow State Conservatoire with Vera Gorostaeva, having performed internationally since his early teens.

Kholodenko’s discography includes a Scriabin album on Harmonia Mundi which was awarded a Diapason d’Or in 2018, Prokofiev’s Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 5 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, a recital of Tchaikovsky, Balakirev, Chaplygin and Kurbatov on Melodiya, and Grieg and Saint-Saëns Concertos with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
